China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)
CPEC is a group of various infrastructure development projects under construction in Pakistan with the help of China. CPEC includes projects such as roads, railway lines, special economic zones, sea and air ports, power plants, mines etc. Overall value of CPEC was estimated around 48 billion which is now over 60 billion USD.
23 electricity generating projects will be established in Pakistan at a cost of 22 billion USD which will be able to generate around 14,000 megawatts of electricity.
12.7 billion USD will be spent on development of railway infrastructure. 2000 Km railway line will be constructed/upgraded.
1609 Km road network be constructed all around Pakistan to support CPEC transportation which will cost around 8.3 billion USD.
CPEC projects also include 820 Km long fiber optic cable from Rawalpindi to Khunjrab.
Other projects include a coal mine, an air port, a dry port, a free zone, four sea ports, a hospital, a school, a mills complex and six special economic zones totaling 5800 Acres.
